149: Radio Vs. The Martians!
My friend, Mike Gillis, has officially launched a project he’s been working on for a while now, and talking about for years before that.
Radio Vs. The Martians is a podcast which he affectionately describes as “The McLaughlin Group for nerds.” It’s a rotating panel of geeks discussing the best and worst of big topics from nerd-pop-culture. The inaugural episode dives right in, with Star Trek.
Mike contacted me because podcasts need websites, and websites need graphics. He needed a logo for the show. He was looking for something old-school sci-fi.
This is what I came up with:
When I look at it, I can almost hear suspenseful music playing over a scream.
I think every good wordmark deserves a graphic element, and there was an image I couldn’t get out of my head. So, before I sent that off, I worked up this illustration:
(Different styles for different applications)
The two elements combine to form the complete logo, but can be used separately as needed.
The podcast is quarterly, so it’ll be a little while before the next episode, but you can check out the premiere episode at radiovsthemartians.com!
