104: Wedding Video

March 16, 2012

Another video? We just saw one, last week!

Ah shaddup. This is important. I’ve been creating this video with almost every free second of my time after work for an entire month, and it was a secret, so all I could share with you was the production company bumper I designed last week.

Maybe you remember the big performance we made for my brother, Andrew, when he got married almost a year ago. Well, this new video was created for the wedding of my other brother, Adam, and most of it will make little to no sense to anyone who isn’t in my immediate family.

But still, it was a big deal to put together, and we all had a blast making it, so on the blog it goes.

So, yes. It’s chock full of inside jokes and cameos from unexpected friends you don’t know. No, Kristin isn’t from Norway, but she does have Norwegian heritage and is very blonde. And yes, when it comes to making videos for my family, I have a blatant disregard for copyrights in favor of making it funny. I’m sorry if you’re viewing from Bermuda, as YouTube has blocked the video there for copyright violations. Why Bermuda? I don’t know. Ask YouTube.

We sprung this on Adam and Kristin tonight at their wedding rehearsal dinner. Set up a projection screen, and basically roasted them right there in front of everyone. Most party guests wanted to know where they could see it, so here’s the link everyone.

If you guys have any questions just ask in the comments, I’ll do my best to explain anything. :)

Happy wedding, guys.

Oh, and that’s 2 full years of blogging. Yay!

103: It Eats Like Corn. productions

March 10, 2012

I’m branching out more and more into making videos, so I figured it was time I had my own production bumper.

It uses audio from a video I shot while making the candy corn on the cob post. The lighting was way too dark, so I never used it, but I really liked the sounds.

Oh boy! Now I can stick this at the end of everything I make.

102: Bus Stop Art, Revisited

March 3, 2012

The first time I decorated this empty bus stop schedule frame, I thought it would be taken down pretty immediately. It stayed up, though, for at least a couple months.

I knew it would eventually come down, but I was disappointed that it wasn’t replaced with anything. Not a schedule or any other art. So I decided to put something up again, but this time would be different. I put up instructions for making your own bus stop art.

That’s pretty much it.

I printed it off…

and installed it, according to the directions.

And, yes.

I did enjoy.

101: Squishy things (featuring Candwich)

February 19, 2012

So, it’s technically next week. I updated the Adventures in eating section of the blog today!

OK, so squishy things isn’t really a great category, but I had a bunch of things to try and they all seemed particularly soft.

Ever seen a Candwich? Well I ate one, and I’m sure you’re going to want to see that. Also there’s a bunch of marshmallow things over there.

So, go check out me eating some soft squishy things including a PBJ sandwich:

Click me! I’m something.

100: Nightreading

February 18, 2012

Remember when I said last week that next time I “might even make something other than a drawing“?
Here’s a comic.

If this scene seems a bit familiar, maybe you’re remembering this comic from a year ago.

Hey, look at that. 100 posts.

I’d like to thank everyone for stopping by each week. It really means a lot to me to have people who appreciate the dumb things I do. I started the blog because I kept having ideas and not doing anything with them, and I wanted to actually get them out of my head and into the world. What I found is that I really like to do this, and I look forward to it each week.

Something else I’ve found is a great bunch of people from all over the world who enthusiastically spread the word and share my stuff. It’s been almost 2 years now, and having this blog has been the most fun I’ve ever had. Your clicks have launched me to internet superstardom a few times, and your comments always make me happy.

I’ve still got ideas running around my brain, and I have big future plans, so keep coming back. And thank you.
Maybe I should do something special to celebrate.

I know… I’ll make post #101 tomorrow.

99: Still on vacation

February 11, 2012

In the unlikely event that I would still be without any internet service like last week, I actually scheduled 2 emergency posts. That’s right, I did 3 things 2 weeks ago.

I must warn you. This one is extremely childish. Even moreso that previous attempts. OK, now that that’s out of the way…

Did you ever notice:

Hopefully this observation will fill your next hospital visit with very inappropriate giggling.
Special thanks to Kevin for the idea.

See you next week when I’ll be back on my regular schedule, and might even make something other than a drawing.

98: On vacation

February 4, 2012

I’m currently on vacation, and if you’re seeing this post, it’s probably because I don’t have an internet connection where I am.
But, rather that leave you something-less this week, I made an emergency post that will display this image of a seagull wearing a suit jacket.

My plan was to post something better before this auto-published, but it looks like I wasn’t able to.

Enjoy:

I apologize for the quality of this post.

97: Ice Capades Commercial

January 28, 2012

I saw this old commercial the other day (watch it)…

…and 2 things hit me.

The first thing was a hand. Megan slapped me because I had immediately fallen into a deep trance and was buying Ice Capades tickets by the bucketful, killing anyone who stood in my way. That snapped me out of it.

The second thing that hit me, though, was just how effective a commercial that is. I couldn’t stop thinking about Ice Capades for hours. Or at least I couldn’t stop thinking about the words “Ice Capades” repeated over and over in an ever-increasingly-creepier whisper, and that’s pretty much the same thing from a marketing perspective.

I wondered why nobody advertises products this way anymore, and I planned to fix it. So I made this:

…and this:

Do you want to buy cereal or scissors now?
Yes, you do.

96: Snowplows hate dots

January 21, 2012

An observation:

Earlier in the week, it snowed, and now that the snow is melting away, little dots are appearing in the plow banks.

Hundreds of little dots. Such a clean separation. I’m kind of impressed.

Maybe we can harness this technology and put it to better use:

95: Some animations?

January 14, 2012

Here’s something I made from some stock photography.

Before:

Boring

The more I looked at this photo, the more it became apparent that it needed to be animated.

After:

Much better.

That was fun, so I decided to make a harder one. Let’s try hair:

Let that be a lesson to you about the dangers of resting your chin on your hands.
